FACE pine plantation, Profafor , Ecuador

Se trata de un proyecto de plantaciones de pino para sumideros de carbono llevado a cabo por una empresa holandesa llamada FACE (Forests Absorbing Carbon Dioxide Emissions) que opera en el Ecuador con el nombre PROFAFOR. La idea es que las plantaciones compensen las emisiones de una nueva planta de carbon holandesa. A travs de contratos con terratenientes asi como tambien con pequeons campesinos, PROFAFOR ha plantado 22,000 hectreas de pinos en los Paramos ecuatorianos, asi como en otras regiones. Los contratos con los campesinos se han basado en falsas promesas de generacion de ingresos y empleos que difcilmente se han materializado.
