El Parque Nacional Lauca se encuentra entre los 3.200 a 6.342 msnm en la comuna de Putre, Provincia de Parinacota, junto con la Reserva Nacional Las Vicuñas y es un patrimonio natural protegido por leyes chilenas y acuerdos internacionales (fue declarado Reserva de la Biosfera reconocida por la Unesco en 1981).
