Se trata de dos minas El Aguilar y La Esperanza que de acuerdo a las denuncias de la Red Puna, integrante del Movimiento Nacional Campesino Indígena, contaminará las aguas y tierras de comunidades campesinas e indígenas, en la cuenca del Río Yacoraite, en la Quebrada de Humahuaca, lugar declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.
