En 2006 existian propuestas de al menos dos fundiciones de aluminio en Trinidad y Tobago. Alutrint Proyecto conjunto entre el Gobierno de la Republica de Trinidad y Tobago y la firma Venezolana Sural. El Gobierno, a traves del National Energy Corporation tiene una participacion del 60% y Sural posee el 40% restante.
