Description:

El 26 de diciembre de 2013 El Mercurio reportó que la Municipalidad de Tierra Amarilla había presentado una demanda ambiental contra la minera Candelaria para que sea condenada a reparar materialmente el daño que habría causado. La acción judicial fue interpuesta ante el Tribunal Ambiental de Santiago por el alcalde Osvaldo Delgado Quevedo. Esta empresa está explotando en la zona minerales de cobre mediante el método convencional de rajo abierto, y también ha incorporado reservas a través de explotación subterránea. Esto a 5 kilómetros al suroeste de la comuna de Tierra Amarilla, Región de Atacama.
