Oil concessions to Petrobras, Petroandina, Repsol... for exploration in the biosphere reserve and indigenous peoples communal territory in Pilon Lajas.


Description:

El Bloque petroleo Río Hondo fue adjudicado en la licitación de enero de 2001. Este bloque ocupa territorios del Parque Nacional Madidi, de la Reserva de la Biosfera y Territorio Indígena Pilón Lajas, y llega hasta el TIPNIS. Se trata de un millón de hectáreas adjudicadas a Petrobras Bolivia (50%) y Total Exploration Production Bolivia (50%). Este contrato contradice al Art. 5 del Decreto Supremo 23110 de creación de la Reserva de la Biosfera y Territorio Indígena Pilón Lajas, del 9 de abril de 1992. Este Decreto Supremo establece la prohibición de otorgar nuevas áreas de colonización agraria, forestal, minera y petrolera, garantizándose sin embargo los asentamientos de colonos, campesinos y propiedades agrarias, así como también las concesiones forestales, mineras y petroleras establecidas legalmente con anterioridad al presente decreto supremo, sujetas a reglamentación especial.

Briefly explain:En 2016 se iniciarán tareas de exploración en varios parques protegidos de Bolivia, entre ellos Pilón Lajas, sin embargo, la Confederación de Pueblos Indígenas de Bolivia (Cidob) ha anunciado su rechazo a estas actividades de exploración y ha advertido de que los habitantes de estas áreas protegidas opondrán resistencia.
