Mejia Thermal Power Station (MTPS)is located at Durlavpur in the Bankura district in West Bengal. It has four units of 210 MW each and two unit of 250 MW. The power plant is one of the coal based power plants of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC).
Local residents of nearby villages (Latiaboni villege) and Mejia town in Bankura district forced Maja Thermal Power Station to close its three of the six units of 1,340 mw Thermal Power Station because of pollution by fly ashes emitting from these unit.
Villagers had been demonstrating on the gate of the plant. They were picketing at the plant, demanding compensation and relocation of their village.
